When I'm with a certain segment of my family, I experience the "long goodbye": when it's time to leave, the goodbyes at the front door can last 30 minutes.
Some of us also experience the "Long Hello,” when an 8 pm concert starts at circa 8:15 - 8:20.
Before the music starts, we are greeted by the organization's spokesperson, who thanks the donors, promotes future concerts, mentions the important community outreach performed by the organization, makes a request for contributions and ends with an introduction of what's to come at this particular concert.
Then…the first notes are heard at 8:15+.
Perhaps the Beatles said it best: "Hello Goodbye."
