I recently found myself caught off guard during three separate conversations with rising figures in the classical music scene. Each of these artists is rightfully gaining momentum and positioning themselves for greater influence in our field.
Some of the inappropriate and inaccurate statements, directed at me, frankly, were hurtful. What made these exchanges especially difficult was that we align on so many fundamental issues, and advocate for similar new directions in how classical music evolves beyond 2025.
Yet, what struck me the most in each conversation was an apparent blindness to our collective challenges in the classical music world. We are all in this together.
The need for solidarity within our classical music community has only intensified since January 20, 2025.
